Well, when we wish good for someone we actually pray for him/her that whatever hardwork he/she has done may give good rewards to him/her.

When you plant a seed, a seedling appears and develop into a plant or tree as the time passes.During this, it get blossomed by flowers and later fruits come on the tree which we had planted.
Aha !!! Now my mind is turning towards fruits.How blessed we are that nature has provided us with many fruits and veggies which are not only delicacies but full of healthy nutrients too !
Many fruits are bright colored and beautiful in appearance and these colors of them add good health to our lives too.
When we talk about fruits, POMAGRANATE is a powerful name which comes in our mind.This beautifully colourful fruit is not only good in taste but good for health but for beauty too.
Today, I am going to write here about the various health benefits which this red coloured sweet fruit offers to us.

Pomegranates have anti-oxidant, anti-viral and anti-tumor properties and are said to be a good source of vitamins, especially vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, as well as folic acid. This amazing fruit consists of three times as many antioxidants as green tea.
You will be amazed to see that they are so useful in maintaining effective and healthy blood circulation, that several doctors suggest eating pomegranates to regain your strength after a long illness. Pomegranates have been traditionally used for clearing up the skin and reducing inflammation. Pomegranate’s juice can also be useful for the treatment of sore throats. Other health benefits include being a great cure for heart related problems, stomach disorders, cancer, dental conditions, osteoarthritis, anemia and diabetes.
According to a research study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, since pomegranates are rich in antioxidants, they can prevent the oxidization of LDL cholesterol, also known as ‘bad’ cholesterol.

Traditionally, pomegranates are known as a symbol of health, with several Ayurvedic and herbal medicinal scriptures mentioning their use as a natural remedy.

A pomegranate is a type of berry that is between the size of a lemon and grapefruit. Pomegranates are also known by the plant name Punica granatum, and belong to the plant family Lythraceae. Inside the white flesh of the pomegranate are hundreds of tasty seeds that are also full of health benefits. In fact, the Latin name for the pomegranate translates as “seeded apple.” It even looks similar to a red apple!
Pomegranate and its distinctive ruby-red jewel-like seeds have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years.
The Middle Eastern fruit is claimed to be effective against heart disease, high blood pressure, inflammation and some cancers, including prostate cancer.
Pomagranate is a good source of fibre. It also contains vitamins A, C and E, iron and other antioxidants (notably tannins).
Pomegranates contain a conjugated linoleic acid called punicic acid. Pomegranate health benefits also come from many other vitamins and minerals such as vitamin K, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and manganese. The fruit is also a good source of omega-6 fatty acids.Finally, pomegranate is full of B vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folate, and choline.

Studies & Facts -
1). A 2013 study found evidence that pomegranate strengthened bones and helped prevent osteoporosis. The catch was the study involved mice, not humans.

2). One small study from 2006 found that drinking a daily 227ml (8oz) glass of pomegranate juice significantly slowed the progress of prostate cancer in men with recurring prostate cancer. This was a well-conducted study, but more are needed to support these findings.
A more recent study from 2013 looked at whether giving men pomegranate extract tablets prior to surgery to remove cancerous tissue from the prostate would reduce the amount of tissue that needed to be removed. The results were not statistically significant, meaning they could have been down to chance.
3). A good-quality study from 2004 on patients with carotid artery stenosis (narrowed arteries) found that a daily 50ml (1.7oz) glass of pomegranate juice over three years reduced the damage caused by cholesterol in the artery by almost half, and also cut cholesterol build-up. However, these effects are not clearly understood and the study did not say what the results mean for conditions such as stroke.
4). A well-conducted trial from 2005 on 45 patients with coronary heart disease demonstrated that a daily 238ml (8.4oz) glass of pomegranate juice administered over three months resulted in improved blood flow to the heart and a lower risk of heart attack. The study did not say what the results mean for conditions such as heart attacks, and with such a small trial the positive results reported could be down to chance.
The dietitian's opinion on pomegranates
Alison Hornby, a dietitian and BDA spokesperson, says the evidence around the health benefits of pomegranates are inconclusive.
She says: "Research suggests there may be a benefit, but we've not shown it yet. The studies that have found an improvement in existing health conditions were very small and more investigation into the role pomegranate plays in these improvements is needed.
"A 150ml glass of pomegranate juice counts as one of your 5 A Day. Make sure to avoid brands with added sugar. You could also add pomegranate seeds to cold dishes and salads. It's a healthy and appetising way to increase the nutritional value of your meal."
